Belarus, Sri Lanka discuss political, trade, economic cooperation

MINSK, 12 January (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yuri Ambrazevich met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka to Russia with concurrent accreditation to Belarus Janitha Abewickrema Liyanage on 12 January, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press service told BelTA.

Yuri Ambrazevich and Janitha Abewickrema Liyanage exchanged opinions about the entire range of matters concerning Belarus-Sri Lanka cooperation. Promising avenues for advancing interaction in politics, trade and economy, humanitarian affairs were discussed.

Yuri Ambrazevich congratulated Janitha Abewickrema Liyanage on opening an office of the honorary consul of Sri Lanka in Belarus. He said he hopes the consul's work would contribute to further advancement of bilateral relations in trade, education, science, technology, tourism, and culture and would help invigorate business exchanges.
