Belarus seeks closer ties with Pakistan in manufacturing

MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) – Belarus would like to expand partnerships with Pakistan in the manufacturing industry and investment, Belarus' Industry Minister Pavel Utyupin said at an event to celebrate Pakistan's national holiday, BelTA has learned.

Pavel Utyupin noted that Belarus and Pakistan developed a substantial legal framework of bilateral cooperation consisting of about 80 agreements. The two countries established solid partnerships in agriculture, pharmaceutics, science and education.

The industry minister expressed confidence that Belarus-Pakistan cooperation has great prospects.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Belarus Leena Salim Moazzam emphasized the importance of promoting comprehensive cooperation with Belarus. In 2019 the two countries mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations. In this regard, Belarus and Pakistan will hold a number of events.

According to Leena Salim Moazzam, bilateral cooperation is gaining momentum; the parties are expanding interparliamentary contacts and twin-town relations. Belarus and Pakistan are set to hold another round of bilateral political consultations this year.

The ambassador expressed hope that the lower visa fees for Belarusian nationals will contribute to facilitating travel between the two countries.
