Belarus, Russia urged to step up cooperation with far away countries

MOSCOW, 17 May (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia need to focus on building a belt of like-minded countries, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Minister Sergei Aleinik said at the talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on 17 May, BelTA has learned.

Belarus and Russia coordinate their actions in the international arena, relying on a program of coherent actions in foreign policy. It is adopted every two years. This year, the countries will prepare and adopt another such document, for 2024-2025.

"We hope to do this within the framework of the joint collegium. We will also discuss the preparations for the collegium today. One of the items will be the interaction with the far away countries. We need to focus on building a belt of like-minded countries that hold the same views on a just world order, the need for a transition to a multipolar world and are committed to the basic norms and principles of the Charter of the United Nations," Sergei Aleinik said.
