Belarus-Russia Union State MPs to monitor parliamentary elections in Belarus

MOSCOW, 11 November (BelTA) – Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia will monitor the elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly.

“On 17 November, Union State MPs will monitor the elections of the deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the seventh convocation as part of the CIS observation mission,” the press service noted. “The delegation will include MPs representing both houses of the Russian parliament and members of the Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State.”

“The Union State MPs are set to visit the polling stations in the city of Minsk, and also in the Vitebsk, Grodno and Minsk regions, meet with the leadership of the Central Electoral Commission, regional election commissions, and the heads of regional councils of deputies and executives committees. On 18 November members of the Parliamentary Assembly, together with other representatives of the CIS observation mission, will take part in a press conference to sum up the results of the observation of the election campaign and the voting day.

“After the official results of the elections to the National Assembly of Belarus are announced, some of the elected deputies will be delegated to the Parliamentary Assembly. In accordance with the Union State Treaty, Russia and Belarus are represented in the Parliamentary Assembly by 36 deputies from the parliaments of the participating states.” the press service said
