Belarus-Russia Union State MPs to discuss ways to optimize budget spending

MOSCOW, 28 May (BelTA) – The possibility of optimizing budget spending of the Union State of Belarus and Russia will be discussed at a session of the Budget and Finance Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in the Russian city of Smolensk on 4 June, the Parliamentary Assembly's press service told BelTA.

The MPs will discuss progress in executing the Union State budget in 2019 and organizing the work on drafting the Union State budget for the next year. Apart from that, there are plans to discuss progress in inventorying Union State events and projects and the optimization of budget spending in the course of drafting the Union State budget.

A report on cooperation of Russia's Smolensk Oblast with regions of Belarus will be presented. Plans have been made to evaluate the current state of interaction and find out existing problems.

Representatives of the Standing Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, financial, economic, and oversight agencies of Belarus and Russia, the Russian Enlightenment Ministry, the Belarusian Education Ministry, the Russian Agriculture Ministry, the Smolensk Oblast administration, and the Orsha District Executive Committee are expected to take part in the session along with Union State MPs.

While in Smolensk the Union State MPs are also expected to meet with Smolensk Oblast Governor Aleksei Ostrovsky and visit the enterprises that tightly cooperate with Belarusian partners.
