Belarus-Russia union legislation approximation concept nearly ready

MINSK, 12 March (BelTA) – Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia believe the draft concept for approximating laws of the states parties to the Union State Foundation Treaty is nearly ready, the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia told BelTA after the latest session of the Legislation and Regulations Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Polotsk.

Participants of the session reviewed progress in preparing the draft concept for approximating laws in Belarus and Russia. It was noted that the document is nearly ready to be considered during the next session of the Union State Council of Ministers. Apart from that, the MPs came up with proposals to be included into the roadmap on implementing the concept.

The Union State MPs were also informed about the experience of making model laws in the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. Participants of the session discussed prospects of adopting model legislation within the framework of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. The influence such efforts may have on ensuring laws in Belarus and Russia are harmonized was discussed. Members of the Legislation and Regulations Commission agreed there are reasons to use model lawmaking within the framework of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. They decided in favor of taking a closer look at the matter taking into account opinions of all commissions of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia and the relevant ministries and government agencies of the two countries.
