Belarus, Russia to discuss cooperation in transport, logistics ahead of forum of regions

MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) – An applied science conference will take place in Minsk on 4-5 July in anticipation of the 6th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia. The conference will be dedicated to cooperation in transport and logistics, the press service of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus told BelTA after a joint session of the forum's organizing committees, which took place in St Petersburg on 14 June.

The organizing committees discussed preparations for the main events of the forum. Close attention was paid to the program of the plenary session, in which the heads of state are expected to participate. “Belarus-Russia relations have been, are, and will be comprehensive, strategic, and friendly. If there are any issues, we have to discuss them and find solutions. The forum of regions is a good platform for this dialogue,” Deputy Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Marianna Shchetkina stressed.

In her words, a youth forum will be an important part of the program. “It is no accident that we are going to attract a lot of young people since they represent the future of the Union State of Belarus and Russia,” she remarked. The youth parliament is a good venue for promoting initiatives in this regard.

In turn, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Yuri Vorobyev added that the forum's organizers expect the youth parliament members to work hard. The young MPs have a lot of interesting initiatives. Speaking about preparations for the forum, Yuri Vorobyev said that most of the events are in a high state of readiness. “There are small matters left to be addressed. Today the organizing committees have agreed who and when is going to address them,” he remarked.

The 6th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia is scheduled to take place in St Petersburg on 16-18 July. All the regions of Belarus and over 70 regions of Russia are expected to participate in the forum, bringing the total number of participants to over 600. The plenary session will focus on interregional ties as the foundation for shaping common cultural and humanitarian cooperation space of the two countries. On the whole, the forum will be dedicated to cultural, humanitarian, and educational cooperation.
