MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) – Belarus is ready for constructive interaction with the European Union on matters of nuclear safety. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko made the relevant statement after participating in a videoconference of the heads of state and heads of government of the countries participating in the European Union's Eastern Partnership Initiative on 18 June, BelTA has learned.
Roman Golovchenko stated: “Belarus is open to a dialogue about nuclear and radiation safety. We stressed it during our speech. We are ready for constructive interaction with the European Union in this sphere.”
Roman Golovchenko pointed out that Belarus has nothing to hide in this sphere, the country observes all the international documents. The country agreed to arrange a review of the national action plan in the wake of stress tests of the Belarusian nuclear power plant and notified European partners about it. “It demonstrates our openness in the matter,” the head of government noted.
Apart from that, the Belarusian side confirmed readiness to host a high-level Eastern Partnership Initiative event in Minsk in autumn. The event could serve as a platform for discussing the future of the imitative.
