Belarus, ODIHR discuss international observation of presidential election campaign

MINSK, 24 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) discussed the organization of international observation of Belarus' presidential election campaign, BelTA learned from the press service of the ministry.

“On 24 June, Belarus Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko had a phone conversation with Ingibjorg Solrun Gisladottir, Director of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe,” the ministry said.

The parties discussed the organization of work of the ODIHR observers at the ongoing presidential election campaign in Belarus.

BelTA reported earlier that the House of Representatives had scheduled the presidential election for 9 August. In line with the calendar of the key presidential election dates and events, early voting shall be held on 4-8 August. The Central Election Commission shall announce the results not later than 19 August. The run-off, if needed, is to be held within two weeks, i.e. on 23 August.
