MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) - The Belarusian parliamentary delegation continued its work at the winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Vienna, taking part in the events of the final day of the assembly, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.

“We listened carefully to the delegations' statements at the joint meeting of the three general committees yesterday and today. A number of delegations spoke about the need for negotiations. I would like to inform them that the dominant Western world - the United States - is blocking the possibility of negotiations and is interested in prolonging armed hostilities. We have already had an opportunity to see that,” head of the Belarusian delegation, member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Andrei Savinykh said as he spoke at the joint meeting of the three general committees. “In some speeches there were statements that the establishment of peace requires increased supplies of offensive lethal weapons to Ukraine. It was rather curious to encounter the logic that was perfectly predicted by the famous British fiction writer George Orwell in his novel 1984, writing about the West's distant future: “War is peace!”

This is a distorted and dangerous logic, or rather its absence, the Belarusian MP stressed. “Here I would like to state that we know that Western countries supply lethal weapons, encourage their citizens to take part in armed clashes as mercenaries, jackals of war. I am convinced that when the war is over and there is a new Ukraine without neo-Nazis, these countries will have to take responsibility for their actions, including financially to restore that has been destroyed by Western weapons. The principle of responsibility will be applied to all countries without exception. Please do not forget about it,” Andrei Savinykh said.
