MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) - The European Parliament is becoming a machine spreading disinformation to put pressure on sovereign states, Chairman of the Standing Committee on International Affairs of the House of Representatives Andrei Savinykh told the media as he commented on the European Parliament adoption of another anti-Belarusian resolution on 11 May, BelTA has learned.
“First of all, the European Parliament adopts documents that are based on information from unverified and dubious sources. They cannot verify the authenticity or adequacy of this information. This seriously devalues the adopted documents. Second, over the past year, virtually all Western European political institutions have been pursuing policies that are clearly contrary to the interests of ordinary citizens of these states. This is already an obvious fact. Under these conditions, the European Parliament is becoming a machine, a tool spreading disinformation to put pressure on the states that pursue a sovereign, independent foreign policy,” Andrei Savinykh said.
Thirdly, this is a natural result of the choice made by Western European political institutions and the European Parliament, the MP emphasized. “This is due primarily to the rejection of the norms of international law and generally accepted principles of international relations, as well as to the transition to the policy of establishing a world order based on rules. The result is predictable and inevitable,” he added.
