Belarus MFA flag raised in ceremony in Minsk

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) - The flag raising ceremony of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was held in Minsk on 20 December, BelTA has learned.

The ceremony was held in the square in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the participation of Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei, dignitaries and veterans of the diplomatic service, employees of the ministry, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Belarus.

Vladimir Makei addressed the ceremony and compared the flag of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a combat banner. He stressed that today the ministry is not fighting on the battlefield with weapons in hands. Yet diplomats are engaged in battles in the political, economic and humanitarian fields in international organizations.

“2019 will be a special year for us. We will mark a historic milestone – the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian diplomacy. We will enter this year with the flag of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus flying high. Respect it and take proud in it,” Vladimir Makei said. He expressed his confidence that the personnel of the ministry, embassies and consulates will cope well with all the challenges facing them, and reach new professional highs.

Vladimir Makei expressed appreciation to the representatives of the diplomatic missions of foreign states and international organizations who shared this solemn moment with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.
