Belarus, Malaysia reaffirm interest in strengthening bilateral relations

MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Indonesia and concurrently to Malaysia Valery Kolesnik presented his credentials to Paramount Ruler of Malaysia, Sultan Muhammad V, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

“During the meeting at the official residence of the Paramount Ruler of Malaysia, the parties reaffirmed their interest in strengthening and developing the Belarusian-Malaysian relations, promoting trade and economic cooperation between the two countries,” the ministry informed.

According to the embassy, Belarus' exports to Malaysia totaled nearly $120 million in 2017, up by more than 13% over the previous year. Belarus delivered 625,000 tonnes of potash fertilizers, a record high over the past three years (up 14.4% as against 2016). Belarusian potash is used in the production of palm oil, a major Malaysian export item.
