MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) - Belarus would like to boost cooperation with France in economy and humanitarian affairs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France Igor Fisenko said as he met with members of the France-Belarus friendship group in the National Assembly, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Paris.
On behalf of France the meeting was attended by head of the friendship group Christophe Lejeune, members of the group: French National Assembly Vice President Carole Bureau-Bonnard, deputies Christophe Blanchet, Jerome Lambert, Vincent Thiebaut, Jean-Marie Fievet, Stephane Trompille, Laurence Trastour-Isnart. The results of the work of the group and the prospects for Belarusian-French inter-parliamentary cooperation were high on the agenda of the meeting.
Addressing the French MPs, Ambassador Igor Fisenko noted that Belarus considers the inter-parliamentary dialogue an important tool of bilateral cooperation and that the country is interested in active cooperation with France in economic and humanitarian affairs. He presented the projects scheduled for launch in the near future.
For his part, the head of the friendship group thanked the Belarusian side for an active position on the development of relations with France and reiterated the importance of further expanding bilateral cooperation.
The parties discussed the possible modalities of participation of the French MPs in major international events due in Belarus in 2019: the 2nd European Games, the 75th anniversary of Belarus' liberation from Nazi invaders, and the 1000th anniversary of Brest.More about Politics
