Belarus, Iran mark 26 years of diplomatic relations

MINSK, 19 March (BelTA) – The 26th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Iran was marked at the House of Friendship in Minsk on 18 March, BelTA has learned.

According to Chairman of the Belarus-Iran Friendship Society, Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vyacheslav Danilovich, Belarus and Iran have been steadily developing contacts in many areas. The people of the two states are interested in studying the culture and history of each other. He emphasized the cooperation in science and stressed the importance of joint research projects.

Speaking at the event was also Professor Igor Gancherenok who touched upon the history of the development of relations between Belarus and Iran.

The program of the event included a documentary about Iran and the reading of poems of Omar Khayyam and Ferdowsi. Persian songs were performed by soloists of the Belarusian State Academic Music Theater.
