MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) – A Belarusian-Indian center for demonstrating various technologies will be opened in Hyderabad, India, BelTA learned from Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, plenipotentiary for cooperation with India, during a Belarusian-Indian seminar on nanomaterials and new materials.
The documents to open the center will be signed during the visit of a delegation of representatives of India's top research institutions to Minsk. The delegation has already arrived and will stay through 27 September.
Mikhail Myasnikovich hailed the establishment of the center as a welcome step. In his words, the government and the parliament of Belarus support the establishment of the center as a Belarusian-Indian key scientific and infrastructural project.
The seminar took place at premises of the Powder Metallurgy R&D Group of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Mikhail Myasnikovich described the group as a versatile research and manufacturing organization, which focuses on development, research, and application of new materials. The group established tight ties with the Hyderabad-based International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI) a long time ago.
Mikhail Myasnikovich also reminded that the development of nanotechnologies has become a strategic industrial direction of the last two decades. Six Nobel Prizes have been awarded for unique results of research work in the field of nanomaterials, nanotechnologies, and nanoelectronics.
Mikhail Myasnikovich mentioned historically high level of friendly relations with India in politics and the high degree of understanding between the Belarusian nation and the Indian one. Good trade growth dynamics is observed. Investment projects involving Indian companies are being implemented in the area of pharmaceutics. A lot of humanitarian and educational projects are in progress. “Our countries have agreed a list of priority cooperation projects. It is constantly being expanded. All of it is a result of many years of teamwork. It is worth noting that Indian investors trust Belarus,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said.
Priorities of Belarus-Indian cooperation in science and innovations were determined by the heads of state when the Belarus president visited India in September 2017. The priority areas include nano- and biotechnologies, pharmaceutics, robot technology, and information technology.
