Belarus, Hungary urged to work on reducing confrontation in Europe

MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) – Belarus and Hungary need to promote stability and work on reducing the potential of confrontation in the European region, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said as he met with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjarto in Minsk on 14 January, BelTA has learned.

According to Vladimir Makei, Belarus and Hungary have no disagreements. The two countries have similar viewpoints on the majority of current international issues. “Today we talked about large geopolitical players who pursue their own interests. Despite the fact that we are medium-sized European states, we need to think about our interests, about what is important for our peoples, our states. We understand that we need to do our best to ease tensions in our region in order to prevent any dividing lines from growing deeper,” the Belarusian minister said. He stressed that Belarus and Hungary are ready to work on further alignment of the Eurasian and European integration processes.

Vladimir Makei thanked his Hungarian counterpart for the constructive dialogue. The Belarusian minister of foreign affairs is confident that the current positive trend in relations with Hungary will receive further development.
