Belarus' Honorary Consulate to open in Pratteln, Switzerland

MINSK, 27 November (BelTA) – Belarus' Ministry of Foreign Affairs has appointed Hermann Alexander Beyeler, President of Ceres Group Holding AG, Managing Board Chair of Buss Industrial Park, Honorary Consul of Belarus in Switzerland with an office in Pratteln, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Switzerland.

On November 20, the businessman was granted an exequatur on behalf of Swiss President Ueli Maurer and Swiss Federal Chancellor Walter Thurnherr to serve as Honorary Consul of Belarus with the consular district covering the cantons of Lucerne, Uri, Obwalden, Nidwalden, Basel, Baselland, Graubunden, Aargau, Solothurn. Earlier, in accordance with the procedure, the order to appoint a consul was signed by Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei.

"The opening of the Honorary Consulate in Pratteln will contribute to the development of Belarusian-Swiss cooperation in general and to direct ties with the German-speaking cantons of Switzerland in various areas," the embassy said. The diplomatic mission added that Belarusians got an additional place to where they can aply for first help and consular assistance.

The consulate is scheduled to open in early March 2020.
