MINSK, 21 June (BelTA) – Germany values Belarus' efforts to preserve peace in Europe, Mark Hauptmann, Chairman of the German-Belarusian Parliamentary Friendship Group, member of the Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy of the German Bundestag, said as he met with Chairman of the Council of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich, BelTA has learned.
Mark Hauptmann stressed the important role of Belarus as a venue for talks to settle the Ukrainian crisis. “In this aspect Belarus can be named a partner of peace,” he noted. “The German chancellor and government value Belarusian efforts to restore peace in Europe and our joint work in this respect.”
The parties also discussed ways to enhance trade and economic, interregional, humanitarian cooperation between Belarus and Germany. As Chairman of the German-Belarusian Parliamentary Friendship Group, Mark Hauptmann said he is happy that the bilateral relations have become closer in a lot of areas.
