
MINSK, 23 December (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik held telephone conversations with his counterparts from Turkiye and Syria on 22 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The talks with Faisal Mekdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic, took place on the initiative of the Syrian side. The parties discussed a number of issues on the bilateral agenda in political, trade, economic and humanitarian areas, as well as cooperation in multilateral formats.
“The heads of the foreign ministries stressed the importance of the course for mutual support in the international arena and the interest in intensifying and expanding the Belarusian-Syrian cooperation,” the ministry said.
Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu congratulated the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs on his appointment as he talked to Sergei Aleinik on the phone. They also discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation, paying special attention to the implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level.
“The parties confirmed the focus on further mutually beneficial development of interstate relations and agreed on further contacts at various levels,” the ministry said.
