ASHGABAT, 10 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Turkmenistan will be able to find solutions to the current issues in bilateral relations, Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told journalists on 10 October, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Makei noted that Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko will meet with Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow on the sidelines of the CIS summit on 11 October. “We have indeed arranged a meeting between the presidents. It will be held tomorrow. The presidents will discuss ways to develop and strengthen relations between the two countries. It is no secret that we have certain disagreements. I am sure that during the upcoming meeting and future contacts we will find a way to settle the issues that, unfortunately, exist in our relations,” Vladimir Makei said.

He stressed that Belarus is eager to continue cultivating close relations with Turkmenistan.

Speaking about possible solutions to these issues, Vladimir Makei said he would rather wait for the upcoming meeting of the heads of state. He also noted that Belarus and Turkmenistan can find a compromise. “We have an idea about how to cut this Gordian knot,” Vladimir Makei said.
