Belarus FM attends WEF Regional Action Group meeting to discuss economic recovery after pandemic

MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei attended the second online meeting of the High-level Regional Action Group for Europe and Eurasia launched under the auspices of the World Economic Forum (WEF), BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Chaired by WEF Executive Director Borge Brende, the meeting discussed the recovery of the global economy after the COVID-19 pandemic, the terms of transition to a green economy, and the areas of assistance from Europe and Eurasia to Africa.

In the Regional Group, Belarus advocates strengthening the regional dimension of its activities and maintaining crisis-resistant production and supply chains, taking into account the already established economic ties between countries and regions.

The World Economic Forum is a non-governmental organization headquartered in Geneva. The WEF is the organizer of the annual economic forum in Davos that brings together heads of state, heads of leading corporations and prominent economic analysts.

At its first meeting, the Regional Group supported Belarus' proposals on the role of Eurasia in the development of projects uniting different integration organizations for the benefit of the region, and on the participation of the Eurasian Economic Commission in the work of the group.
