Belarus' flag hoisted in Rouen to mark 75th anniversary of Normandie-Niemen Regiment

MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) – The 75th anniversary of the foundation of the legendary Normandie-Niemen Regiment has been celebrated in Rouen, France, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in France.

Attending the celebrations was Belarus' Ambassador to France Pavel Latushko, representatives of the embassies of Russia and Serbia, the authorities of Normandy, the city of Rouen, military, school students, representatives of public associations, including the Normandie-Niemen association.

The participants of the event laid flowers at the Normandie-Niemen Monument, located opposite the Rouen City Hall. The flags of France, Belarus and Russia were hoisted. An exposition telling the story of the regiment was opened in the Rouen City Hall.

Pavel Latushko stressed that Belarus remembers the deed of French pilots who fought to liberate its lands.
