MINSK, 22 July (BelTA) - Belarus needs to set the date for the Eastern Partnership (EaP) high-level meeting in Minsk scheduled for autumn 2019, Head of the EU Delegation to Belarus Andrea Wiktorin told the media on 22 July, BelTA has learned.
“We have made a proposal to Belarus and are waiting for the answer [regarding the date] so that the high representative could attend the meeting,” Andrea Wiktorin explained.
In her words, the main theme of the forthcoming event will be the future of the Eastern Partnership. “There are four major venues of cooperation, which are a stronger economy, closer ties and the possibility to build such ties, more efficient governance and a stronger society. We would like to hear the opinions of all the Eastern Partnership member states,” she added.
Belarus and the EU have been actively cooperating in the Eastern Partnership project. In May 2019, Brussels hosted a meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs and a high-level conference to mark the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership. Belarus was represented at the events by Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei.More about Politics
