Belarus-EU trustful cooperation expected to overcome logic of sanctions sooner or later

MINSK, 25 February (BelTA) – The trustful cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the European Union in a growing number of areas of mutual interest will overcome the logic of sanctions sooner or later. The relevant statement was made by Anatoly Glaz, Head of the Information and Digital Diplomacy Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to the European Union's decision to extend the arms embargo and restrictions against four persons in Belarus, BelTA has learned.

The statement published on the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website reads: “We've taken information about the European Union decision into consideration. It can cause nothing but regret. Sanctions are a relic of the past. They run totally contrary to the present nature of relations between Belarus and the European Union, which are becoming more and more substantial and productive.”

Anatoly Glaz is confident that pragmatic and trustful cooperation between the sides in a growing number of areas of mutual interest will overcome the logic of sanctions sooner or later.

“In turn, Belarus is ready for full-value good-neighborly and partnership relations with the European Union,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman said.
