Belarus-Council of Europe dialogue discussed in Strasbourg

MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – Belarus' Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko has paid a visit to Strasbourg to meet with representatives of the Council of Europe, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Oleg Kravchenko took part in a meeting of the Rapporteur Group on Democracy of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, during which he laid out Belarus' assessment of the Council of Europe's Action Plan for Belarus 2019-2021. “The parties discussed the priority areas of the dialogue with the Council of Europe,” the ministry said.

The deputy minister met with Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejcinovic Buric, as well. “The parties talked over the state and possible ways to intensify cooperation of our country with the Council of Europe in various sectors. It was noted that Belarus needs to continue joining the legal instruments of the international organization,” the ministry said.

Oleg Kravchenko met with Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Wojciech Sawicki to take a look at Belarus' relations with the Council of Europe in the parliamentary dimension.

The deputy minister also met with Head of the European Parliament's Delegation for Relations with Belarus Robert Biedron to discuss the ways to develop Belarus' relations with the EU as part of the European Parliament's Delegation activity.
