Belarus' CEC announces parliamentary elections schedule

MINSK, 7 August (BelTA) – The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus has posted on its website the schedule plans for the elections to the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly. The documents were approved at the CEC session on 6 August, BelTA has learned.

As for the House of Representatives, the nomination of candidates to the district election commissions will be open until 30 August. Candidates can be nominated by political parties and other national public associations, labor unions and citizens' groups.

Polling stations are to be set up before 15 September, while precinct election commissions before 2 October. Political parties and other national public associations, labor unions and citizens' groups nominate their candidates to them before 29 September.

Nomination of candidates to the House of Representatives will be held from 8 September to 7 October inclusively. Registration is slated for 8-17 October.

Voters will be informed on the time and place of the elections before 6 November. Within the same period they are to be provided with information about candidates. Early voting will be held on 12-16 November. The election day is scheduled for 17 November.

The election results on each constituency will be published within five days following the election day (before 22 November). The list of MPs of the House of Representatives will be made public within three days after the election results are announced.

As for the Council of the Republic, the nomination of candidates will run from 9 September to 8 October. Registration is scheduled for 9-13 October. The elections will be held on 7 November. The election results will be announced before 22 November.
