MINSK, 19 September (BelTA) – Belarus calls for immediately taking effective measures for a ceasefire and for preventing the loss of life in connection with a drastic aggravation of the situation in South Caucasus, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

Belarus is deeply concerned about the escalation of the situation in South Caucasus and the accompanying combat operations, the source said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “We firmly believe that a lasting and sustainable solution to the most complex conflicts can be achieved only through political and diplomatic means. This is why we urge all parties to take immediate and effective measures to start a ceasefire and prevent the loss of life. For this purpose it is fundamentally important to return to the path of a rational and reasoned dialog within the existing formats in order to prevent the previously formed prerequisites for a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh problem from getting canceled.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs assured that in turn, Belarus is ready to exercise efforts in all the available formats in order to achieve peace and stability in South Caucasus.
