NUCLEAR POWER IN BELARUS AND WORLDWIDE
MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) – Vice Speaker of the Council of the Republic Valery Belsky took part in the special meeting of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan dedicated to the 100th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev, BelTA learned from the press service of the upper house of the Belarusian Parliament.
By the order of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, 2023 has been declared the Year of Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan. 10 May 2023 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, founder of the independent Azerbaijani state, outstanding politician and statesman. On the occasion of this significant event, the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan held the special meeting. The event brought together representatives of 26 countries and four parliamentary international organizations.
During the special meeting, Valery Belsky read out a message of greetings from Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev.
The message noted that Heydar Aliyev was a world-class statesman. The strategies laid down by him, his far-sighted policy and comprehensive decisions played an important role in the development of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a sovereign successful state.
The speaker also emphasized that the commonality of historical destinies and long-term friendship between the peoples of Belarus and Azerbaijan predetermined the trusting nature of the Belarusian-Azerbaijani relations.
"We highly appreciate the strong inter-parliamentary ties between us. We are ready to expand them, fill them with new content and strengthen them thus contributing to the fruitful mutually beneficial cooperation between Belarus and Azerbaijan," the message reads.
The vice speaker gave the Heydar Aliyev Museum a copy of the issue of the Belarusian newspaper with an article analyzing the role of Heydar Aliyev as a prominent figure. The participants of the event laid a wreath at the grave of Heydar Aliyev and toured the Heydar Aliyev Center.
