Belarus ambassador presents credentials to Russia president

MOSCOW, 3 July (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko has presented his credentials to President of Russia Vladimir Putin, TASS reports.

Vladimir Putin said during the ceremony in the Kremlin: “Multiple events timed to the 20th anniversary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia are held this year. We are intent on further advancement of tight integration ties with Belarusian partners.”

He also mentioned forthcoming negotiations of the presidents of Belarus and Russia, which are scheduled to take place in St Petersburg on 18 July during the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia.

Vladimir Putin remarked that Belarus is Russia's closest ally. “Using this opportunity, I would like to once again congratulate the Belarusian nation and the leadership of the republic on the state holiday – Independence Day,” he added.
