Belarus' ambassador presents credentials to Laos president

MINSK, 23 February (BelTA) – Belarus' Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Vladimir Borovikov has presented his credentials to President Thongloun Sisoulith of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The parties pointed to significant potential for building up cooperation between Belarus and Laos in various fields.

The president of Laos expressed hope that Belarus will take part in projects in economy, culture and education running in his country.

“The ambassador of Belarus also met with Chairman of the National Assembly of Laos Saysomphone Phomvihane. They explored possibilities to step up inter-parliamentary cooperation and expand the legal framework,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed.

Earlier, Vladimir Borovikov had held talks with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos Bounleua Phandanouvong. The diplomats pointed to the friendly nature of the Belarus-Laos cooperation, discussed the bilateral cooperation agenda and mutual support in international organizations, as well as plans to exchange visits in 2023.
