MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) – Belarus' Ambassador to Israel Yevgeny Vorobiyov has presented credentials to Israel's President Reuven Rivlin, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission.
The official ceremony was followed by a meaningful discussion of the matters of mutual interest. “The parties believe that the contemporary history of Belarusian and Jewish people and its commemoration are a solid foundation for constructive cooperation between Belarus and Israel today. It was also mentioned that natives of Belarus made a contribution to the establishment and rise of the State of Israel,” the embassy noted.
The parties also noted that visa-free travels between Belarus and Israel helped significantly invigorate bilateral cooperation across a broad number of areas, first of all in economy and trade.
After the credentials were presented, Yevgeny Vorobiyov visited Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, where he lit a candle and laid a wreath in the Hall of Remembrance and met with people in charge of the Yad Vashem Archives.
