Andreichenko to take part in CSTO PA Council meeting in Bishkek

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko will take part in the session of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA) that will take place in Bishkek on 20 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.

The participants of the session will take stock of the efforts of the CSTO Standing Council to improve the organization's institutional foundations, discuss the work of the CSTO PA international observers at the presidential election in Kazakhstan, interaction of the parliamentary delegations of the CSTO member states in the OSCE PA. “During the visit to Kyrgyzstan, the Chairman of the House of Representatives is expected to meet with the parliament speakers from the other CSTO participating states,” the press service informed.

According to the CSTO PA, taking part in the meeting will be the parliament speakers of all the CSTO member states, as well as observer states (Afghanistan and Serbia), representatives of the organization's charter bodies. Acting Secretary General of the CSTO Valery Semerikov will deliver a report on the situation in the organization's area of responsibility and on measures to respond to collective security challenges and threats. The participants of the meeting are to discuss additions and amendments to the CSTO program on reconciliation and harmonization of national legislations of the member states in 2016-2020. The council will fine-tune the action plan for 2019 and determine the time and place for a regular plenary session of the CSTO PA and the agenda of the session.
