MOSCOW, 20 April (BelTA) - The collective West uses all kinds of means to hinder the development of states pursuing an independent policy, Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi said as he addressed the second Belarusian-Latin American forum in Moscow on 20 April, BelTA has learned.

"Belarus is actively developing a dialogue with foreign partners in different parts of the world on the principles of mutual respect and pragmatism. In international affairs, we stand for a just multipolar world based on the principles of international law and the sovereign equality of states. Unfortunately, you can see that the countries that pursue an independent policy come under severe pressure from the West. We see the stubborn desire of the collective West, led by the United States, to maintain its hegemony and prevent the development of new world centers," Ambassador Dmitry Krutoi said.

"They use all the means possible. Belarus has already experienced them all since 2020: attempts to interfere in internal affairs, the use of unilateral illegitimate sanctions, information wars. In addition, NATO member countries are building up their military presence in the immediate vicinity of the Belarusian border. They continue with various kinds of provocations with the aim of drawing the Republic of Belarus into the Ukrainian conflict and escalating it to the entire region. Specific facts have been made public confirming the attempts to insert terrorists from Ukraine into our country for sabotage operations," the ambassador stressed.

"As Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has repeatedly noted, Belarus is a peace-loving country and is not going to attack anyone. We are sincerely worried about our Slavic neighbors, ordinary Ukrainians, who have become hostages to the insane anti-people policy of their government. Last year, Belarus hosted several rounds of peace talks on Ukraine. The agreements would have been signed if the U.S. had not intervened to stop this," Ambassador Dmitry Krutoi stated.

"Belarus has never created problems for its partners and strives for truly good-neighborly relations with all countries without exception," the diplomat assured.

The second Belarusian-Latin American forum in Moscow gathered over 40 Latin American diplomats, who are accredited in Russia. More than ten countries were represented at the ambassadorial level. The Belarusian delegation includes Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Evgeny Shestakov, representatives of the Industry Ministry, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, OAO Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus, and the largest Belarusian companies.
