
MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – China and Belarus are true strategic partners in the political sphere, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Xie Xiaoyong said in an interview with BelTA in the run-up to the state visit of the highest-level Belarusian delegation to Beijing.
“The two countries regularly exchange high-level visits and have built a perfect cooperation mechanism at all levels. Belarus and China respect and support each other's development paths, domestic and foreign policies, and firmly support each other on issues related to fundamental interests of the two countries, such as sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity,” the head of the Chinese diplomatic mission noted.
The ambassador went on saying: “China declares its unwavering commitment to supporting Belarus in its efforts to protect its sovereignty and national dignity, it opposes the interference of external forces in the internal affairs of Belarus and the imposition of unreasonable unilateral sanctions against Belarus. The Belarusian side strongly supports China in matters related to Taiwan, Xinjiang, Hong Kong and so on.”
Xie Xiaoyong drew attention to the fact that China and Belarus are strengthening cooperation in the United Nations and other international organizations, jointly protecting the international system, the core of which is the UN, and the international order based on international law and the interests of sovereignty and security of the two states.
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko is to pay a state visit to the People's Republic of China on 28 February - 2 March. The visit will continue the long-standing policy to build relations of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation with the People's Republic of China.
