Ambassador: Belarus, Estonia maintain productive cooperation

MINSK, 21 December (BelTA) – Belarus and Estonia maintain productive cooperation, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Estonia to Belarus Merike Kokajev told BelTA. She took part in the meeting of Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei with heads of diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations accredited in Belarus as well as their spouses on the occasion of New Year and Christmas holidays on 20 December.

“Estonia and Belarus share common history. Moreover, we are almost neighbors. We have been developing good relations in all the sectors, including politics and economy,” the diplomat said. She emphasized business contacts and the mutual interest which continues growing. Every year the two countries hold seminars to assess the business climate in both the states. According to the ambassador, a delegation of Estonian businessmen is expected to visit Belarus on 22 February 2019.

Merike Kokajev views IT as a promising area in bilateral cooperation. The ambassador also emphasized Estonia's great interest in the upcoming 2nd European Games in Minsk in 2019. The Estonian president has been invited to attend the event.

Merike Kokajev said that she prefers celebrating Christmas together with her family. As for Christmas presents, they always include books.
