Open-air archaeological museum in Belovezhskaya Pushcha

An open-air archaeological museum is set to open in the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park soon. The museum features recreated settlements of our ancestors who lived in that territory hundreds and thousands of years ago. The first facility of the complex, a settlement of the Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age, opened on 1 June 2019. The construction of the second facility of the complex was underway for 1.5 years. Specialists recreated Mesolithic and Neolithic settlements as well as ancient Germanic and Slavic settlements of the Early Middle Ages. Plans are also in place to fill the finished constructions with appropriate items, install lighting, and set up a parking lot. The open-air archaeological museum is set to open by the spring of 2021.

The team that proposed to create the museum received a special award of the Belarusian president to figures of culture and art in recognition of their efforts to set up the museum and preserve the historical memory of the Belarusian nation.
