Ostrovets is a regional capital in Grodno Oblast. It was first mentioned in written accounts in 1468 .
Since the start of the construction of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, two schools, four kindergartens, and a multifunctional sports complex have been built in the Ostrovets. The construction of a multifunctional social and cultural facility featuring a museum, a conference hall, and a library will finish this year.
