The 27th edition of the nationwide charity campaign Christmas Tree – Our Children in Minsk brought together 1,600 children from 29 districts of Brest Oblast, Gomel Oblast, Grodno Oblast, and Minsk Oblast that were affected by the Chernobyl disaster.
The campaign kicked off in the Holy Spirit Cathedral. As many as 200 children were invited to the cathedral to meet with Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavl, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus who gave the children his blessing.
The campaign is organized by the Chernobyl Catastrophe Remediation Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry, the BRSM Youth Union, the Belarusian Peace Fund, and the Belarusian Exarchate with the support of other organizations.
