JAKARTA, 27 January (BelTA - ANTARA News Agensy). - Indonesia's Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo stunned world champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore in the second round of the BWF World Tour Super 500 Indonesia Masters at Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, on Thursday.

Wardoyo, ranked 23rd in the world, handed the third-seeded player a shock 21-18, 21-15 defeat in just over 42 minutes.

The 24-year-old badminton player said that the key to his victory was trying to play as calmly as possible.

“As I started the match, I tried to control his game. It was proven in both the first and second game; I played with no hustle,” he remarked after the match.

Wardoyo said that the support of the home crowd at Istora also played a role in his showing his best performance.

“The support from fans in Istora made me more excited. Seeing the crowd here, I played more calmly,” he stated.

With the win, Wardoyo advanced to the quarter-finals where he will take on Canada's Brian Yang, who staged a remarkable 21-13, 10-21, 21-18 victory over Japan's Kenta Nishimoto
