EU to allocate funds, supplies for China to help fight virus

BRUSSELS, 6 February (BelTA - China Daily) - The European Union will allocate 10 million euros ($11 million) for coronavirus research and provide 12 metric tons of supplies to China as part of an emergency response to help China's fight against the outbreak of the epidemic, according to information released by the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China.

The European Chamber has provided support to regulators procuring medical devices overseas, such as searching for relevant international standards and ensuring suppliers have permission to sell overseas.

Many its member companies such as ABB, BASF, Volkswagen and BP have made financial contributions; donated medical protective supplies, consumable and disposable medical devices, pharmaceuticals, nutritional products, disinfection and cleaning supplies to Wuhan in Hubei province and other affected areas; and have provided free logistics channels as well as free 24-hour online clinics, according to the chamber.
