
SHANGHAI, 13 December (BelTA - People'Daily Online). - Notre-Dame de Paris, the Augmented Exhibitionhas brought the historical cathedral to life for the first time through an augmented reality show.
The exhibition's first stop in Asia is taking place at Jiushi Art Museum at Bund 18 in Shanghai from Dec 2 to Jan 2.
Produced by French start-up Histovery in collaboration with the Public Institution, which was responsible for the conservation and restoration of Notre-Dame de Paris, the exhibition opens with the dramatic fire of 2019 and takes viewers on a journey through the cathedral's 850-year history, from the first foundational stones laid in 1165 through to the coronation of Napoleon and its current restoration.
Armed with the HistoPad tablet, visitors can scan the Time Portal in the exhibition hall to discover the famous structure's past through 3D reconstructions, 11 interactive models and 21 augmented experiences.
Joan Valadou, French consul general in Shanghai, said: "Notre-Dame de Paris is not only a symbol of France, but a cultural icon for all mankind. The Shanghai exhibition underscores China's fond feelings for the Notre-Dame."
The consul general went on to express his gratitude to L'Oreal Group, the sponsor of the augmented exhibition, which coincides with L'Oreal's 25th anniversary in China.
Valadou noted that the exhibition also demonstrates the cosmetic company's "unwavering contributions to cultural exchanges between China and France".
The tour of Notre-Dame de Paris, the Augmented Exhibitionwill span 12 cities on four continents.
