The cooperation of writers helps people learn more about the literature of different countries, Belarus' Information Minister Lilia Ananich said at the international roundtable discussion Accord: Skaryna's Word in Modern World on 3 September, BelTA has learned.

“We are grateful that you are restless promoters of Belarus in your countries, and such meetings give fuel to your art. Our national book legacy is expanding because Belarusian readers get familiar with your works,” Lilia Ananich told the participants of the roundtable.

In her words, it is very important that the cooperation of writers helps promote the works of Belarusian authors in other countries.

The minister added that in the Year of Culture many institutions host events and are already drafting plans for the next year. These include many projects to promote the legacy of Francysk Skaryna. One of the projects was the publication of the book Francysk Skaryna in the Languages of Various Nations timed to the Belarusian Literature Day. We need to do a lot to promote this legacy all over the world, Lilia Ananich said and added that in 2017 Belarus will celebrate the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing which is part and parcel of the global book history.

Lilia Ananich believes that the participants of the roundtable put forward interesting proposals to popularize the historical legacy, and promote humanistic principles highlighted by Francysk Skaryna among Belarusians and other people.

Minsk hosted the meeting of writers from 14 countries on 3 September.
