The incident with the dead Iraqi man at the Lithuanian border was malicious and simply inhumane, BelTA learned from a member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Oleg Gaidukevich.
The MP said: “This night after local residents alerted the authorities Belarusian border guards found an Iraqi man, who had been beaten nearly to his death. He had virtually crawled across the border from Lithuania to Belarus. The man died in hands of the Belarusian border guards. His body had signs of brutal beatings. Investigators are working at the site. The case represents impotence of Lithuanian authorities. It is malicious and simply inhumane. Impotence because it turns out that after 30 years Lithuania has neither a border service nor security services.”
The MP added: “They say Belarus has orchestrated the migration crisis. But Belarus didn't destroy Iraq and Libya. You applauded bombings in Iraq. You sent probably your own aircraft over there. Belarus has been and will be a friend of the Lithuanian people despite the eagerness of Lithuanian politicians to destroy our relations.”
