The future of global security is being decided in Ukraine today, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Vyacheslav Volodin told the media in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
"The future of security of not only the Russian Federation but of the whole world is being decided in Ukraine today. We still need to find the courage, regardless of the position we take today, to recognize that the post-war agreements are gone. The matter of global security is very pressing today," Vyacheslav Volodin said.
He recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed this matter with the presidents of the United States and France, Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron, with Angela Merkel, the then Federal Chancellor of Germany. "The goal was to ensure global security, for every country to feel comfortable. But the U.S. president and his satellites did not want to do this," the speaker of parliament said.
With regard the peaceful settlement in Ukraine, Vyacheslav Volodin said that it is Washington's responsibility. "NATO is waging war in Ukraine. Washington and Brussels. We have always said that we have nothing to quarrel over with the Ukrainian people. We emphasize this today. But NATO assumed control over Ukraine, brought its mercenaries there both to power and to the battlefield. We see what came of it today," he said.
