Professional workforce represents a competitive advantage that Belarus has, BelTA learned from Vladimir Avgustinsky, Head of the Representation of the German Economy in Belarus.
“Professional workforce in Belarus: state, potential, and cooperation” will be discussed during the ninth German Economy Day in Minsk on 16 November. Vladimir Avgustinsky noted it is important for Belarus to step up the manufacturing of innovative products that sell well on the global market. Innovations can be assimilated only if highly professional specialists are available. Taking into account this fact these matters will be discussed in detail during the German Economy Day.
At present many countries face many challenges. Markets and products sold on these markets are in need of ever increasing diversification. According to Vladimir Avgustinsky, good infrastructure is available in Belarus as well as stability. He expressed his opinion while quoting results of opinion polls that had probed the country's business climate. Opinions have been polled by the Representation of the German Economy in Belarus since 2012 and allow comparing the business operation terms that German companies enjoy in different countries.
“Germany's experience could be useful for Belarus,” noted Vladimir Avgustinsky. “Because Germany has a similar economy structure and our advantages as countries are similar, too.”
Apart from that, he drew attention to Belarus' growing advantages as a member of the Eurasian Economic Union. Belarus is located in between two global markets. The European Union market with 28 member states and about 500 million people as potential consumers of products and services is one of them. Then there is the market of the Eurasian Economic Union where about 183 million people live. “Since Belarus has equal conditions of access to the common market of the Eurasian Economic Union, the fact gives the country an additional chance and an advantage,” believes the Head of the Representation of the German Economy in Belarus.
The ninth German Economy Day will be held by the German-Belarusian Economic Club in association with the Representation of the German Economy in Belarus and the Embassy of Germany in Belarus. Two podium discussions will be held as part of the German Economy Day to discuss technical specialists and managerial personnel. The event is expected to gather representatives of German companies operating in Belarus, representatives of education institutions and government agencies of the two countries, representatives of German and Belarusian companies.
The German Economy Day will be held primarily for the sake of raising the Belarusian private sector's awareness about areas of operation of German companies in Belarus. Participants of the event will also discuss topical matters concerning economic development and ways to foster the effective development of trade and economic relations, manufacturing cooperation, and investment cooperation between Belarusian and German companies.
