Ordinance No. 1 creates more opportunities for local authorities to promote employment, First Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Maksim Ryzhenkov said as he met with the sports community in the town of Osipovichi on 30 January.
The document assigns a number of powers to the that they might have not had in the recent past. “Now they have been assigned specific tasks to create jobs, help citizens with employment, to provide all-round support to business to assist self-employment. Today these are direct tasks and duties of officials to deal with such issues,” the official said.
In his view, the work on reaching these goals will also rely on the package of regulations adopted earlier to promote entrepreneurship. These documents are aimed at improving the doing business conditions, supporting private entrepreneurship, especially with regards to small and medium-sized businesses.
“Therefore, the essence of Ordinance No. 1 is to create stimuli for self-employment, which ultimately will lead to the growth of new jobs in the regions,” Maksim Ryzhenkov noted.
