Only decisive actions can help resolve the terrorism problem. The opinion was voiced by Gennady Davydko, Chairman of the Belarusian state television and radio broadcasting company Belteleradiocompany, during the TV show Editors' Club aired by the TV channel Belarus One on 27 March, BelTA has learned.

Gennady Davydko said: “I saw the news about people drawing chalk hearts in Brussels. Some people believe that love, compassion, and beauty will save the world. Yet I am inclined to believe that only strict order, only severe punishments for everyone aiding and abetting the terrorists can help address the problem.”

“I still fail to see any decisive measures,” he added.

Other participants of the TV show also said they would like European authorities to revise their security arrangements and demonstrate political will in combatting terrorism. “Politicians would do well to understand the essence of tolerance and democracy in a slightly different way. In no way does tolerance mean wide-opened doors for terrorist attacks. Yet this understanding persists for now,” believes Alexander Karlyukevich, Editor-in-Chief of the Zvyazda newspaper.

“I was more offended due to aesthetic considerations when various groups of European politicians admonished Belarusians on how they should live and what they should do,” noted Pavel Yakubovich, Editor-in-Chief of the SB. Belarus Segodnya newspaper. “In their pride they have come to understand how other nations should live. They have placed the European civilization and themselves on the brink of events I am afraid even to contemplate.”
