It is important to coordinate efforts to implement the National Human Rights Action Plan and the Council of Europe (CoE) Action Plan for Belarus 2016-2017, Andrei Naumovich, the chairman of the permanent commission for human rights, national relations and mass media at the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, said at the session of the committee for political issues of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg on 24 January, BelTA informs.

The National Human Rights Action Plan was passed in Belarus in 2016. “In this context, it is important to coordinate efforts to implement this plan and the Council of Europe Action Plan for Belarus,” the MP said.

The National Human Rights Action Plan is the first document of the kind in the history of independent Belarus, the MP emphasized. “This is a program document aimed at helping Belarus fulfill its international obligations in human rights, including the improvement of the legislation and the law enforcement practice,” he said.

The plan includes 100 events involving the representatives of the civil society and nongovernmental organizations of Belarus, Andrei Naumovich added.
