It is the highly qualified personnel that always play a key role when addressing the task of increasing the industrial efficiency, Vitebsk Oblast Governor Nikolai Sherstnev noted after the meeting on agriculture industry development in Vitebsk Oblast.

The lack of human resources is one of the key problems of manufacturing enterprises in the region. This fact was mentioned by practically all the heads of enterprises during the meeting. “The industry is expanding; the industrial output is increasing. For the further development we need professionals. There is a great demand for qualified professionals now. The key goal today is to reduce production costs. To fulfill this task we need professionals, as only highly qualified professionals are able to make the manufacturing more efficient. We need to work on this purposefully and train these specialists by common efforts of enterprises and universities,” said Nikolai Sherstnev.

Manufacturing enterprises account for over 30% over the Vitebsk Oblast GRP. Growth was recorded almost across all industrial sectors in 2017. Last year the industrial output index increased as against that of 2016. It surpassed 100% for the first time in the last three years and totaled 103.4% (without taking into account power engineering and Naftan oil refinery). In January-March 2018 the industrial output reached Br3.7 billion or 139.5% in comparable prices as against January-March 2017. The industrial output index totaled 115.2%
